Nano-technology

„There's Plenty of Room at the Bottom“
This is the title of a lecture given by the Father of Nano-technology Richard Phillips Feynman (1959).

The mastermind of nano-technology already knew at that time that there was a phenomenal potential for tiny (nano-) structures in the world. Nano-technology involves the development, manufacture and application of systems that are composed of nanometre sized (10-9 m) components. A nanometre equals a millionth of a millimetre.

Materials with basic units of only a few nanometres, open the door to a new dimension of material development. Structures that just a few years ago were deemed to be physically unachievable, have now slipped into feasibility. With systems of this scale, completely new product characteristics, functions and processes have been achieved.

Chemical Nano-Technology

In the chemical nano-technology sector, there are now enormously innovative possibilities in the programming of surfaces and modifying typical characteristics.

At Nano-Care Deutschland AG, with our competence based in the chemical nano-technology and material sciences sectors, we develop ultra-thin and multifunctional surface coatings of nanometre thicknesses, making it possible to apply a finish to almost any surface.

Our Competence in Chemistry and Materials:

  • Applying the latest knowledge in colloid- and sol-gel chemistry
  • Using the most unusual precursors (original materials)
  • Specialisation in nano-coatings based on silicon dioxide (SiO2)
  • Programming multiple material properties and functionalities
  • Mergence of organic and inorganic material worlds (hybrid materials)
  • Optimising nano-coating products for subsequent client applications
  • Material production in complete quality-assured production environment
  • Resource preservation

Functions of the Nano-Care Products:

  • Influence on surface energy
  • Barrier properties
  • Influence on the adhesion of foreign materials to the substrate (non-stick)
  • Optical Functions
  • Diversified Additional Functions

Utilisation of Nano-Care Products:

  • Non-stick effects on glass, ceramics, metal, plastics, textiles, mineral surfaces
  • Barrier coatings for protecting micro-porous materials
  • Graffiti-protection for porous and smooth surfaces
  • Anti-fingerprint effects on structured surfaces
  • Special applications for client projects

SiO2 - from the environment for the environment

The raw materials for silicon-dioxide coatings are rich in natural content and are therefore environmentally-friendly. Most sand on the earth is made up of silicon dioxide (quartz). Not only is there plenty of it but because of its durability and chemical resistance it is also especially resistant to the weather. Silicon dioxide is also the main component in all (quartz) glass.

By reducing the requirement for cleaning agents or other chemical processing products for the most diverse surfaces, the functional properties of SiO2 coatings in the nano-technology sector aid in protecting the environment.

Nano-Care Deutschland AG distances herself from the colloquial term "nano-sealant" for glass, ceramic, textiles, stones and other surfaces. It was built by the market in the last 10 years and it is not correct from the technical point of view. Our nano-coatings are not sealing the surface – they protect it without impeding the breathability of the substrate.
