This is the title of a lecture given by the Father of Nano-technology Richard Phillips Feynman (1959).

The mastermind of nano-technology already knew at that time that there was a phenomenal potential for tiny (nano-) structures in the world. Nano-technology involves the development, manufacture and application of systems that are composed of nanometre sized (10-9 m) components. A nanometre equals a millionth of a millimetre.

Materials with basic units of only a few nanometres, open the door to a new dimension of material development. Structures that just a few years ago were deemed to be physically unachievable, have now slipped into feasibility. With systems of this scale, completely new product characteristics, functions and processes have been achieved.

SiO2 - from the environment for the environment

The raw materials for silicon-dioxide coatings are rich in natural content and are therefore environmentally-friendly. Most sand on the earth is made up of silicon dioxide (quartz). Not only is there plenty of it but because of its durability and chemical resistance it is also especially resistant to the weather. Silicon dioxide is also the main component in all (quartz) glass.

By reducing the requirement for cleaning agents or other chemical processing products for the most diverse surfaces, the functional properties of SiO2 coatings in the nano-technology sector aid in protecting the environment.

Nano-Care Deutschland AG distances herself from the colloquial term "nano-sealant" for glass, ceramic, textiles, stones and other surfaces. It was built by the market in the last 10 years and it is not correct from the technical point of view. Our nano-coatings are not sealing the surface – they protect it without impeding the breathability of the substrate.
